We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide high-quality nursing care to youth under the care and custody of the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS). Our nursing staff will receive general supervision from a Registered Nurse Supervisor/Manager and will play a critical role in the health and well-being of our residents
• Provide safe and appropriate nursing care to youth in DJS facilities.
• Perform nursing duties in accordance with established protocols and individual patient care instructions.
• Utilize the nursing process to deliver effective and efficient care.
• Assess patient needs and health issues, documenting observations and nursing interventions.
• Collect laboratory specimens, including performing phlebotomy as required.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams regarding patient care issues.
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Document the administration of medications, vaccinations, and treatments in accordance with the Maryland Nurse Practice Act.
• Report any suspected abuse to Child Protective Services.
• Deliver health education on topics such as sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy prevention, hygiene, and dental care.
• Current RN or LPN license in the State of Maryland.
• Previous experience in a nursing role, preferably in a juvenile, correctional, or similar setting.
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to adhering to policies and procedures, as well as the Maryland Nurse Practice Act.
• Individual will work in a culturally diverse and stimulating environment; Individual must enjoy working in the community
• May be required to lift /assist in transferring individuals, as needed
